Abella Weddings & Events is looking for a self-motivated, customer-focused Venue Manager to help execute our wedding and event functions. As a key representative of the venue, you will ensure the seamless operation of events and deliver an exceptional experience to our clients and their guests.
The Role
This is a seasonal, part-time position that offers hands-on experience in the fast-paced events industry. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the venue during events, collaborating closely with owners and event staff, and serving as the primary point of contact for day-of client needs.
Schedule & Availability
Our peak season runs from May through October, primarily with events on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (occasional Thursdays). Our non-peak season, April, November, and early December, typically includes 1-2 events per weekend. The venue is closed from mid-December through March.
Shift Structure: Most events require two managers: a Morning Manager and an Evening Manager.
Shift Length: Shifts are generally 9–11 hours long.
Overlap: Shifts are designed to overlap during key times like guest arrival and the ceremony, ensuring smooth transitions and maximum support when activity is highest.
Example: For a wedding with a 4:30 PM ceremony, a typical Morning Shift is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and the Evening Shift is 3:30 PM–1:00 AM.
Required Availability: You must be available to work a combination of weekends, evenings, late nights, and/or some holidays during the season (April–November).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Venue Operations: Execute opening and/or closing procedures (e.g., unlocking/locking doors, managing venue lighting, restocking restrooms).
Setup & Teardown: Accurately set up tables, chairs, and rental items based on the event floor plan. Assist with basic clean-up and resetting of spaces (additional setup staff provided for larger events).
Team Leadership: Supervise and direct event attendant staff to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
Guest Experience: Provide exceptional, proactive customer service to clients, guests, and vendors; troubleshoot and resolve immediate on-site issues as they arise.
Traffic & Safety: Assist with greeting guests and directing parking lot traffic. Work in coordination with security staff to monitor the property and ensure guest safety.
Client Tours (Optional): If interested and available, conduct venue tours for prospective clients during weeknights or off-peak weekend days.
General Support: Perform other duties as assigned by the owners to support the overall success of the event.
Qualifications
Minimum 18 years of age.
Proven self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills; must be a collaborative team player with a positive and confident demeanor.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to Abella's attire guidelines.
Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
Must be consistently punctual and possess reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely engage in physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting for 8–10 hour shifts.
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Comfortable and willing to work outdoors as needed.
